Flaminal® — gel for treating most wound types
A patented enzyme complex cleanses the wound, controls infection and maintains a moist healing environment — without pain at dressing changes.
- Works for acute and chronic wounds
- Atraumatic dressing changes
- Safe for all ages

What is Flaminal®
Flaminal® is an alginate-based antimicrobial enzyme gel. It creates the optimal environment for healing without harming healthy tissue. Two formulas address different exudate levels.

Light formula for wounds with low to moderate exudate. Low alginate.
Best for
Dry or low-exudate wounds
- Ischaemic arterial and venous ulcers
- Dry heel pressure ulcers
- Stalled post-traumatic wounds
- Post-surgical wounds with impaired tissue trophism
- First- and second-degree chemical burns

Stronger formula for wounds with heavy exudate. High alginate.
Best for
Wounds with heavy exudate
- Post-surgical wounds complicated by infection
- Cavities after abscess incision and drainage
- Superficial second- and third-degree burns
- Deep stage 3–4 pressure ulcers
- Traumatic wounds with inflammation
- Fungating malignant wounds

Wound types Flaminal® treats
Effective across all healing phases — from cleansing to epithelialisation. Detailed clinical cases on the manufacturer's site, Flen Health.

Pressure ulcers
Tissue damage from prolonged pressure — sacrum, heels, elbows, ischial tuberosities.

Diabetic foot ulcers
Ulcerative lesions in diabetic patients with concurrent neuropathy and angiopathy.

Leg ulcers
Venous, arterial, and mixed-aetiology lower-limb ulcers.

Partial-thickness burns
Superficial and partial-thickness burns requiring a moist healing environment.

Infected wounds
Wounds with critical colonisation and biofilm-mediated microbial burden.

Post-surgical wounds
Wounds left to heal by secondary intention after surgical procedures.

Traumatic wounds
Abrasions, lacerations, skin tears, and superficial tissue loss after injury.

Oncologic wounds
Malignant wounds and post-oncological surgery / radiotherapy lesions.

Why Flaminal®
Six core advantages that make it a universal solution

Infection control
The enzyme-active system in the formulation prevents biofilm formation, including antibiotic-resistant strains of infection.3

Moist environment
The alginate in the formulation controls moisture balance, preventing both drying out and excessive exudation in the wound.5

Painless
Atraumatic dressing changes — the gel does not stick to the wound.4
How it works: the TIME framework
International standard for assessing and treating chronic wounds
- TT — Tissue
Tissue cleansing
Removal of necrotic tissue and fibrin to prepare the wound bed.
- II — Infection
Infection control
Reducing microbial load and fighting biofilm without systemic antibiotics.
- MM — Moisture
Moisture balance
Optimal wound bed moisture to activate repair.
- EE — Edge
Edge epithelialisation
Stimulating cell migration from the wound edges to close the defect.
How to apply
- 1
Cleanse the wound
Rinse the wound per local protocols. Dry the surrounding skin.
- 2
Apply a 4–5 mm layer
Cover the entire wound bed with an even layer of gel.
- 3
Cover with a dressing
Use a secondary dressing. Change every 1–4 days depending on exudate.
Full instructions and contraindications are on the Instruction page.
