What is BloodSTOP iX
A hemostatic based on naturally derived esterified carboxymethyl cellulose (ECMC). The dry non-woven matrix turns into a sealing gel on blood contact, forms a physical barrier, and activates natural hemostasis. Fully resorbs — no removal needed.

Four sizes — one for every scenario
From a tooth socket to the operating field and cavity packing. Each size matches a typical clinical task.

Dentistry and dermatologic surgery
Post-extraction socket, implant placement, biopsies, basal-cell excision. Especially handy in DOAC and warfarin patients.

ENT and minor limb wounds
Anterior packing for epistaxis, tonsillectomy, septoplasty. In trauma — lacerations up to 5 cm.

Operating field and neurosurgery
Parenchymal bleeding of liver, spleen, kidney. Craniotomy windows, dural sinuses. Split-thickness skin graft donor sites — one sheet covers the anterior thigh.

Long wounds and cavity packing
Cavity packing after abscess, hematoma, or cyst incision. Long lacerations of limbs and torso. STOP-the-Bleed protocol for large compressible hemorrhage.
Where BloodSTOP iX® is used
Eight clinical scenarios — from dentistry to field surgery. Each with its own protocol and recommended size.

Neurosurgery
Bleeding from dura, cortex, dural sinuses and spinal cord — neutral pH 7.2 and no embolic load.

General and abdominal surgery
Parenchymal bleeding of liver, spleen, and kidney; anastomotic ooze.

ENT surgery and epistaxis
Tonsillectomy, septoplasty, anterior and posterior epistaxis — alternative to classic nasal packing.

Trauma care
Lacerations, abrasions, burns, compressible external bleeding per STOP-the-Bleed.

Dermatology and biopsies
Punch and shave biopsies, Mohs surgery, skin lesion excision.

Anticoagulated patients
Warfarin, DOACs, heparin, antiplatelets — hemostasis without stopping the drug.

Burn surgery and donor sites
Bleeding after necrectomy and split-thickness skin graft harvesting.

Dental extractions
Post-extraction socket, especially in patients on anticoagulants without therapy interruption.

Implantology and periodontics
Bleeding control during implant placement, bone grafting, and periodontal surgery.
Every scenario has its own page with a detailed protocol, bleeding classification, and recommended size.
Why BloodSTOP iX
Six advantages proven in surgery and emergency care

Universal use
Effective on capillary, venous, and arterial bleeding of any etiology.3

With anticoagulants
Works on patients on warfarin, heparin, and antiplatelets — no extra protocol changes.4

0% rebleeding
Clinical studies report no rebleeding after application.2

Fluid absorption
Holds up to 1 liter of fluid for 24 hours — critical in heavy bleeding.5
Mechanism of action
Dual mechanism — physical sealing barrier + activation of coagulation Factor IX. The product name's «iX» is a direct reference to this factor.
11Contact with blood
ECMC absorbs plasma and red blood cells, instantly concentrating clotting factors at the wound surface.
22Gel formation
The material gels and forms a dense sealing barrier — bleeding is stopped mechanically.
33Factor IX activation
In parallel with physical sealing, coagulation Factor IX is activated — fibrinogen-to-fibrin conversion accelerates.
44Clot stabilisation
The formed clot holds in place, protecting the wound from rebleeding. Clinical studies report 0% rebleeding.
55Resorption
The material gradually resorbs, leaving healing undisturbed. Removal is neither required nor recommended.
How to apply
- 1

Identify the source
Locate the bleeding point. Prepare dry instruments or dry gloves.
- 2

Apply BloodSTOP iX
Cover the bleeding surface with the dry material, pressing it firmly onto the wound.
- 3

Maintain pressure
Hold compression until the gel forms and the clot stabilises — typically 2 minutes.
Use dry instruments — premature contact with water triggers gelling.
